Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
The rate from 6th April 2008 to April 2009 for SSP is £75.40 per week. If your nanny is unable to work through sickness then you must either continue to pay as usual or pay SSP. To pay SSP qualifying conditions must be met. It is payable after three days of absence. Please let us know if you wish to pay SSP and we will calculate it and claim any SSP back from HM Revenue & Customs on your behalf.
The Qualifying Conditions:
- has done some work for you under their contract
- has notified you of sickness in time
- has been sick for four or more days in a row
- Have had average weekly earnings of at least £90.00 within the last eight weeks before the start of this spell of sick absence. Then you can start paying SSP.
